Lasso Del Norte, Vegas Style

The USTRC Lasso del Norte was held June 22nd - 24th, 2007 in picturesque Las Vegas, New Mexico. The roping was produced by Zamora Roping Productions and held at the Santa Fe Trail Event Center. The roping was a phenomenal success. The format change with an increased prize line, additional stalls and the use of two arenas were all contributing factors. "Ropers were very complimentary of the two arena set up" stated producer, Kenny Zamora. The event was run in a very efficient manner with little wait time between runs. The steers were supplied by Chris Freed and Mike Robertson. This proved to be a great combination as the cattle were outstanding. Zamora Roping Productions has a reputation of being roper friendly especially when it comes to score line conditions. The barrier was set where ropers would not get out run. Steers were selected for each division to complement the level of ability of the ropers in those divisions. Also, a short round pen was sorted during every division to even the draw. Ropers from numerous states including Hawaii, as well as ropers from Mexico and Australia attended the event. 2000 teams competed for more than $280,000 in cash and prizes during three days of roping. The Lasso Del Norte continues to be a don't miss event. Producer Kenny Zamora would like to thank all the ropers who made the 2007 edition a huge success and invites ropers to the 2008 event to be held next June.

The Second Annual Route 66 Team Roping Championships

The second annual Route 66 team roping championships took place June 29th, 30th and July 1st in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Over the three day period nearly 600 teams were run.

Ropers from Texas, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico made the trip to Tucumcari. More than $22,000 was awarded in cash and prizes that included a Calico three horse slant gooseneck trailer, a Master saddle, two Clint Mortenson buckles and numerous Wrangler Jean certificates. The trailer was won by Brad Walden of Littlefield, Texas. He was the high money winner of the weekend with winnings in excess of $1500. Buckles were awarded in the #5 and Under Saddle and Buckle roping to the average winners Ron Farrow and Jesus Sotelo. Jesus Sotelo was also the high point roper of the #5 and under taking home a Master saddle to go along with his new Clint Mortenson belt buckle.

Zamora Roping Productions and the Tucumcari Quay County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the ropers and sponsors for yet another successful Tucumcari Route 66 event.
Good luck and go get the money!
